New horizons for sustainable development with the release of Camfil’s annual sustainability report

Stockholm, Sweden, 18th May 2021 - Camfil's work and commitment towards sustainability reached new horizons in 2020 with ongoing actionable projects such as product life cycle assessment (LCA), reduced waste generation, and reduced carbon emission as we continuously aim towards energy-efficient solutions. The research and development work done by Camfil’s air filtration experts generates value for the customers and the community by protecting people, processes, and the environment. Our energy-saving clean air solutions make a positive contribution by reducing environmental impact during our product's life cycle. Camfil's R&D team has done an extensive investigation and transformed the future of clean air solutions by calculating their impact during the life cycle assessment, from manufacturing, waste, logistics, and operations. Camfil's vision and approach to developing and designing clean air solutions give us new opportunities that ensure safety, efficiency, and sustainability. We are driving the market with energy-saving solutions that contribute positively to the environment. The reduced energy consumption, material utilisation, and reduced waste directly correspond to our product sustainability initiative. We have four production units across the globe equipped with yield systems that help us deliver sustainable solutions and all production units function with an aim to reduce waste annually by 1% in relation to volume.

Camfil is working closely to align its strategies with the UN Global Compact initiative in the 2030 agenda and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the areas of human rights, equal opportunity, and well-being, along with the reduced and positive environmental impact of our products. With this commitment, we have aimed that 100% of major Camfil production companies will be GEEIS certified by the end of 2022. Our senior management and managers actively participate in trade compliance training as Labour, Human Rights and Anti-Corruption are foundations of Camfil's work ethics. Also, Camfil's team globally managed a swift supply chain effort to meet the growing demand for air filtration solutions in the healthcare and pharmaceutical community due to the pandemic.

Camfil's 2020 Sustainability Report records all the important achievements, plans, and commitments that ensure the eco-friendly use of resources and help create a transparent, sustainable future. Camfil continued to produce energy-efficient solutions with robust designs and developments contributing positively to the environment. Camfil won the 'Grand Indoor Climate Prize' in Sweden for its advanced premium HEPA filtration for cleanrooms.

Also, Camfil's code of conduct complies with UN Global Compact's ten principles and guidelines are in place for both employees and business partners. This includes environmental compliance requirements for external partners with an approach to modern practices and technology to promote energy efficiency and sustainable use of resources.

“The 2020 Sustainability report highlights and pays attention to protecting the health and wellbeing of our employees and the community during a challenging pandemic situation. Camfil also acquired two companies in Australia and Sweden on the path to deliver as an industry leader in efficient clean air solutions. We have launched numerous initiatives to further improve energy and operational efficiency to reach our sustainability targets, thanks to our dedicated and committed team at Camfil.” – Åsa Lidström, Quality and Environmental Initiatives Manager
