Camfil India Expands with New Manesar Facility to Boost Capacity and Support India’s Adoption of IS 17570:2021/ISO 16890:2016 Standards

Manesar, Gurgaon, India — [28 November 2024]: Camfil India proudly announces the opening of its new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Manesar, a major milestone in the company’s growth journey. This strategic move marks a significant milestone in Camfil India's journey, reflecting our commitment to meeting the growing demand for high-quality air filtration solutions across various industries.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by the presence of Mr. Christian Kamill, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Sweden, who attended as the guest of honour. Mark Simmons, CEO of Camfil Group, emphasized the importance of this development, stating, “The inauguration of the Manesar facility aligns with Camfil’s long-term strategy to expand local production, elevate product offerings, and adopt cutting-edge technologies. By delivering high-quality, energy-efficient, and sustainable solutions, Camfil India aims to strengthen its role in advancing air quality standards.”

Key Highlights of the New Facility

  • Expanded Production Capacity for High-Efficiency Filters:
The new Manesar facility significantly boosts production capacity, especially for high-efficiency filters designed for Air Handling Units (AHUs). This enables Camfil to better serve the growing market demand for superior air quality solutions in HVAC systems.
  • Introduction of Minipleated HEPA Filters:
As part of this expansion, Camfil India will manufacture minipleated HEPA filters, also known as Megalams. Designed and built using advanced equipment and scanning technology developed in Camfil’s R&D centers, these filters deliver exceptional performance and energy efficiency. These innovations cater to the needs of industries such as pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and microelectronics, setting a new benchmark for sustainable and high-performance filtration solutions.
  • Compliance with BIS Standards (IS 17570:2021):
The Manesar facility is fully aligned with India’s adoption of the ISO 16890 standard, which evaluates air filter performance. All HVAC filters produced at this plant will meet the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) guidelines under IS 17570:2021/ISO 16890:2016. India is the first country in Asia to implement this global standard, and Camfil has been a leading advocate for its adoption. Rigorous quality control ensures that Camfil products exceed industry benchmarks for reliability, safety, and durability.
  • Advancing Sustainability:
The new facility will produce next-generation Hi-Flo filters, which enhance performance while reducing energy consumption and environmental impact. This reflects Camfil’s commitment to sustainability and innovation.
  • ‘Make in India’ Initiative:
Reinforcing its support for the ‘Make in India’ mission, the facility will serve as a key local sourcing hub within the Camfil Group. This will enhance its global supply chain efficiency and position Camfil India as a critical contributor to international markets.

Rahul Kapoor, Managing Director of Camfil India, highlighted the local impact, saying, "We are thrilled to inaugurate our new facility in Manesar. This step not only supports our expansion plans but also aligns with India’s ‘Make in India’ vision and industrial growth story. By enhancing local production capabilities and adhering to global quality standards, we are poised to deliver innovative solutions that address the evolving needs of our customers.”
