100 CLEAN AIR TECHNOLOGY PRODUCTS DONATED: BETTER QUALITY AIR MAKING A HEALTH IMPACT WITH CAMFILCARING
STOCKHOLM, Sweden 1 July, 2022 – The CamfilCaring initiative, a corporate social responsibility action manifests Camfil’s commitment to CSR in the communities where it works globally. Camfil teams conduct community outreaches that promote health and well-being. The theme, Clean Air Everywhere focused the activities as 100 City M air cleaners were distributed to community organizations.
The air purifiers were provided to organisations in need of indoor air quality (IAQ) such as eldercare centers, healthcare institutions and schools. “With these donations we want to show our gratitude to these organisations and the work that they do in their communities, and assist them in coming one step closer to ‘Clean Air Everywhere’.” says Camfil CEO Mark Simmons.
Camfil employees shared their expertise, measured the air quality and made instalments to ensure air improvements. From the collaboration and feedback received the air purifiers have made a difference in protecting people’s health and well-being with clean air quality.
Here are three of the many CamfilCaring stories of 2022:
Malaysian rehabilitation center: 82% Particle reduction for cleaner air
Camfil Malaysia donated three City M air purifiers to Yayasan Ipoh rehabilitation center, where they were placed in the daycare center, physiotherapy unit and Electro Area. Shortly after the air purifiers were installed, the PM1 count had been reduced from an average of 6.8 to 1.2 μg/m³. This equals an 82% reduction of potentially harmful particles in the air.
Eliminating bad smells at Danish hearing center
Before accepting the donation of a City M purifier, Danish hearing center Hørbart wanted to make sure that the noise level of the air purifier would not interfere with their sensitive hearing tests. After a test run, City M proved to fully meet Hørbart’s noise level requirements. Heavy rains and subsequent floods in the area had caused bad odours to come from the lavatories in the building where Hørbart have their offices. Camfil suggested temporarily moving the air purifier from the waiting room to the restroom and thanks to City M’s molecular filter, the odour quickly disappeared.
Healthy air quality level in just minutes at Brazilian hospital
A test of the air quality in Jaguariuna hospital showed that the air quality in the operating room had a PM index of 4. According to WHO and ISO 16890 this equals poor ventilation and air filtration or no air filtration at all. Camfil Brazil donated a City M air purifier, and after running it for 30 minutes, the air quality in the operating room went from PM index 4 to PM index 1, with an air particle count of less than 0.6 μg/m3, which is considered very good.
