Pollution and the recent fires in Stockholm - what can you do with the right filters?

Due to the tragic fires that recently happened in Stockholm, we received a lot of questions about how to prevent smoke and odors from influencing the indoor environment through ventilation. It’s not an easy task and many questions arise. What is burning? Is it harmful to our health? Where is the smoke coming from? How close is it? Many factors depend on how close you are to the actual fire. If the building is near the fire then so are you. If the building is near the fire and the smoke is in the direction of your ventilation, the air filters will be compromised quickly. This is when you need to change filters to clean the air. At the same time, there are high concentrations of smells. In these cases, you need carbon filters. However, if you are near the fire, it is not enough to replace existing ventilation filters with a variety of combined carbon and molecular filters. Large amounts of coal are required and you do not have these protections in normal comfort ventilation.

If the property is located at the appropriate distance from the actual fire, it may be possible to replace bag filters with a combined carbon and molecular filter, City-Flo XL. We always recommend that you have these filters in the comfort ventilation in inner cities to easily increase indoor air quality. It is a relatively inexpensive and simple measure.

Getting a City M air cleaner is very helpful in the home. It is placed indoors and the air circulates through a combined HEPA and carbon filter. This filter combination allows you to get fresh and clean air!

Our recommendation is to always have an extra round of air filters at home in case the ventilation system needs to be changed quickly.

An air cleaner is an excellent complement to ventilation, or if there is not a supply air filtration.
